Privacy notice
The short version
- This website collects what you send us (emails, and content you submit through forms), basic technical data needed to deliver the site securely, and analytics if you accept them.
- We use your email to reply to you and to send you news about our work. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- We use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used, and only if you accept them. We also count visits without cookies.
- We use content you submit to us to train and improve our AI models, unless you opt out.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
- We don’t offer any product yet. This notice covers our website.
Who we are and what this covers
Treepai, Inc. (“Treepai”, “we”, “us”) runs treepai.com. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.
This notice covers our website. It does not cover any future product.
Contact: privacy@treepai.com. Our address is 2810 North Church Street, STE 90352, Wilmington, Delaware 19802, United States.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Emails to us: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write.
- Content you submit: text, files and other content you send us, including through forms on this site.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: when you visit, the service providers that host this site process your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is needed to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Analytics data, only if you accept analytics cookies: the pages you view, the site that referred you, your approximate location (country or region), and your device and browser type. See § 4.
How we use it, and our legal basis
Data protection law in the EU and UK requires a legal reason, or “basis”, for each use of personal information. Ours are:
| What we do | Information | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your messages | Your email and message | Our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us |
| Deliver the site and keep it secure | Technical data | Our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website |
| Understand how the site is used, so we can improve it | Analytics data | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Count visits without cookies | Technical data | Our legitimate interest in knowing how much the site is used |
| Train and improve our AI models | Content you submit | Our legitimate interest in improving our models. You can opt out at any time |
| Send you news about Treepai | Your email address | Our legitimate interest in telling people about our work, or your consent where the law requires it. You can unsubscribe at any time |
| Meet legal obligations or defend legal claims | Any of the above, only if needed | Legal obligation, or legitimate interest |
Training our AI models. We use content you submit to us to train and improve our AI models, unless you opt out. To opt out, email privacy@treepai.com. Please don’t include sensitive personal information, such as health, financial or identity details, in content you submit.
News from Treepai. If you give us your email address, we may send you news about our work. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by emailing privacy@treepai.com.
Cookies and analytics
We use an analytics service to understand how this site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or region), what kind of device and browser they use, and which site referred them. It works by setting cookies in your browser, and it only does so if you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and this service collects nothing.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells one visitor’s browser apart from another’s | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_… | Keeps a visit together across pages | Up to 2 years |
Your choice is remembered in your browser (not in a cookie) so we don’t ask on every page. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page; declining removes the analytics cookies.
Separately, our hosting provider counts visits without cookies: it records the page viewed, the referring site, the country, the device and browser type, and how fast the page loaded. It doesn’t identify you or follow you from page to page or site to site. Because it sets nothing in your browser, it runs for every visitor, whatever you choose on the cookie banner.
Our fonts are stored on our own site, so loading a page doesn’t send your information to a font service.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host this site, handle our email and provide our analytics. They act only on our instructions and only to provide those services. We don’t name our providers publicly, but we will tell you if the law requires it, for example when you ask us for a copy of your information.
- Authorities or other parties, only when the law requires it, or when needed to protect our rights, our users or the public.
- A successor company, if Treepai is ever merged, acquired or reorganised. Your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries outside the EU and UK. When they do, we rely on recognised safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect it. You can ask us for more detail.
How long we keep it
- Emails to us: as long as needed to deal with your message and keep reasonable business records.
- Technical data: kept briefly by our hosting providers for security, then deleted.
- Analytics data: kept by our analytics provider for up to 14 months.
- Content you submit: kept for as long as we use it for the purposes in this notice, or until you ask us to delete it.
How we protect it
The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our accounts and data is limited and protected with multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- stop using it, or withdraw any consent you’ve given.
Email privacy@treepai.com. We may need to confirm the request comes from you, and we’ll reply within the time the law allows. Using your rights is free, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
Extra information by region
EU, EEA and UK. You also have the right to restrict how we use your information, to object to uses based on our legitimate interests, and to receive your information in a portable format. You can complain to your local data protection authority, or in the UK to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We’d appreciate the chance to fix things first.
California and other US states with privacy laws. This site collects identifiers (email address, IP address), internet activity (pages requested, and analytics if you accept them) and the content you submit, from you directly and from your use of the site, for the purposes in § 3. We share them only with the service providers described in § 5. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it. Content you submit may contain sensitive personal information if you choose to include it. You can have an authorised agent make a request for you.
Children
This site isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Links to other websites
This site may link to other websites. This notice applies only to information collected through treepai.com; other websites have their own privacy practices, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. Each version shows the date it was last updated. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated notice applies.
